Healthcare facilities such as hospitals and elderly care homes aim at enhancing care outcomes by providing the best healthcare services. This helps treat diseases, prevent infections and ensure the comfort of the patients and clients. Despite the goal, healthcare institutions face safety concerns associated with patient falls. These preventable accidents complicate healthcare delivery and contribute to poor health outcomes. Patients or clients that suffer patient falls in care homes or hospitals may have hip, ankle, wrist, and general bone fractures. These falls are associated with head injuries. Some injuries may be very serious, mainly if the patient or client is on medication such as blood thinning. Older patients or clients that fall and hit their heads may experience brain injury and sudden death. Many individuals who fall and survive injuries may become very afraid of falling, which may make them reduce their daily activities. Less activity increases body weakness and more risk of falling.
